Bronx High SchoolIt is within the mission of The Dare Tactic to develop outreach programs that promote artistic expression. Providing creative opportunities in Education is deeply rooted in the core values of our company and our High School Education program was developed with this in mind. Through a collaboration between TDT and The Bronx Lab High School, we were able to develop a program for the students to expose them to theater and theatre related undergraduate opportunities.
On the first day students were led in a discussion by our Executive Director Giovanni Lemus on a brief history of theater and what people currently use theater for around the world to make political statements and for self expression. They were then lead through a monologue workshop in which students wrote original pieces and performed them for their classmates. They then developed their own vignettes related to a couple chosen monologues from the group.
The second day comprised of a college tour of Pace University's School of Performing Arts Why is this important? When teenagers are in High School they are in a very transitional period and they are very impressionable. Our work can help them have a smoother transition into their future as well as give them possible creative outlets that may help them graduate.
